Thank you for taking an interest in the Theta Xi chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma at Nova Southeastern Univerisy. Our chapter is comprised of diverse, motivated women, who come from many different cultural backgrounds. We are a unique group of women who became sisters by chance, but have become best friends by choice.
Founded on November 26, 1913 by Lillian Gordon Alpern, Josephine Ellison Breakstone, Fay Chertkoff, Estelle Melnick Cole, Jeanette Lipka Furst, Ethel Gordon Kraus, Shirley Cohen Laufer, Clair Wunder McArdle, Rose Sher Seidman, and Gwen Zaliels Snyder, in Hunter College, Phi Sigma Sigm was the first collegiate nonsectarian sorority that opened its doors to women of all faiths and backgrounds.
Our mission to inspire the personal development of each sister and perpetuate the advancement of womanhood, has helped shape a broad spectrum of outstanding women, such as Marian Rosen, the youngest female lawer to appear before the Supreme Court of the United State, and Nancy Pimental, writer for the TV series "South Park". These women are examples of how diverse our sisterhood can be, but also serve as testimony to our vision statement, which is that Phi SIgma Sigma is a dynamic sisterhood of powerful women fostering uncompromising principles, while igniting positive change and embracing individuality.
We are excited that you have taken an interest in Phi Sigma Sigma, and encourage you to look through our website to answer any questions you may have. We also invite you to contact us at psigmasigma@gmail.com or in person, by talking to any of our sisters about what Phi Sigma Sigma means to us, and what it can mean for you!

The sisters of the Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma

A Message from the President
Welcome to the website of the Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma at Nova Southeastern University! On September 8th, 2013, I ran into the arms of more than sixty women that saw nothing but the best in me. I am the woman that I am today because of my sisters. They always encourage me to "aim high". As an only child, having sisters like these that are here for me has made my undergraduate experience in college that much better. I am humbled and eternally grateful to serve as Archon of this organization, and lead the sisterhood that I am in love with. Phi Sig has opened many doors for me in my undergraduate career, and I am confident that this will continue, even after I have crossed the stage in the Don Taft University Center arena this coming May as a college graduate.
These letters do not make me better than anyone else, but they do make me better than the person I used to be. The sorority is a vision that celebrates the essence of all that is best in women. If it weren't for Phi Sigma Sigma, I would not be where I am today. Each day, my sisters and I live by our core values of lifelong learning, leadership through service, and inclusiveness. We push one another to aim high in the classroom, on Nova Southeastern University's campus, and in our community. Whether it's late night study sessions in the library, participating in community service projects, or hosting one of the largest spring philanthropy events at NSU, this is the place for me. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. I invite you to get to know myself and my sisters and see what Phi Sigma Sigma is all about.
